How to Handle Noise Issues

If possible, try speaking to the people responsible for causing the noise first to give them the opportunity to correct the issue. If that does not work, the noise issue can be reported to the Enforcement Division.

To make a complaint about a short-term noise issue, please call either the Town of BWG Enforcement Division during staffed hours, or South Simcoe Police outside of Enforcement hours.

To make a complaint regarding long-term noise issues, please follow this procedure to ensure the Town is able to act upon your complaint.

1. Call

File a complaint with the Town of BWG Enforcement Division. Call 905-775-5366 ext. 1701 and leave a detailed message in order to receive a call back.

2. Connect

After speaking with an Officer, you will be provided with a Noise Evidence package to record the ongoing noise issue.

3. Document

Sufficient completion of the Noise Evidence package will require:

  1. Documented noise for a minimum of 5 days (the days do not have to be consecutive);
  2. Record of date, time, description of noise, and location of noise;
  3. Signatures at the appropriate place on each sheet.

4. Submit

Return the Noise Evidence Package to the Town of BWG Enforcement Division.

If the noise continues and a noise evidence package is completed in-full and returned to the Enforcement Division, the investigation will proceed with the possibility of fines and court proceedings. Your name as the complainant is confidential; however, if court action is needed you will be required to attend and testify.
