Holland Marsh Centennial Flotilla – Setting Sail with over 100 Participants!
Bradford West Gwillimbury is thrilled to share that over 100 paddlers have registered to take part in the Holland Marsh Centennial Flotilla this Sunday, September 28 — a remarkable show of community spirit to mark 100 years of the Holland Marsh.
The flotilla will see kayaks, canoes, and other non-motorized vessels travel a 5km loop starting at the Portuguese Cultural Centre of Bradford. Participants and spectators alike can look forward to a morning full of energy, colour, and community pride.
With over a hundred boats launching, the morning will be bustling!
- Staff will be on-site to direct boat drop-off and parking.
- Participants will check in to receive wristbands, boat numbers, flags, and T-shirts.
- Trained staff will assist with launching vessels and will verify lifejackets and wristbands at the entry point.

Paddlers are encouraged to decorate their boats to celebrate Bradford West Gwillimbury’s agricultural heritage. Spectators can make their way to the turn around point (see map above) and line the sidewalk on Marshview Blvd. to view the paddlers and hear a significant message from Town Crier John Webster (at approximately 12:15 pm) accompanied by the Bradford Legion Colour Guard and the Innisfil Pipe Band.
The Holland Marsh is part of Ontario’s Greenbelt, supported by the Greenbelt Foundation, which is marking its 20th anniversary this year. We thank the Foundation for its support of this event and for helping preserve Ontario’s natural and agricultural heritage.
