I Dont Flush Campaign

The Town of BWG has partnered with the Ontario Clean Water Association and Clean Water Foundation to promote the I Don't Flush campaign. This campaign is​ to bring awareness to the public on water and wastewater topics such as Pharmaceuticals, Personal Hygiene Products, Household Hazardous Waste and Fats, Oils and Grease.

Ensure to follow safe handing instructions on product labels when disposing of materials. Improper disposal of household hazardous waste products can impact human health and the environment. These products can also negatively impact Town infrastructure and create dangerous working conditions for operators.

Fats Oils and Grease

All cooking grease should be put into a container to cool and place into the green bin or garbage, never pour grease down your sink. Fats, oils and grease have the ability to build up and clog pipes which can cause major issues in household pluming and Town infrastructure.

Pharmaceuticals 

Unused and expired medication should be taken a local pharmacy in your neighbourhood. Visit www.healthsteward.ca to find a pharmacy near you! Medications can causes issues for the environment and human health. The wastewater treatment processes are not able to remove all medication from wastewater. This can cause negative issues in the environment and drinking water treatment.

Personal Hygiene Products

Baby wipes, and other hygiene products such as dental floss cause build ups in the collection system and treatment plant which cause damage to Town infrastructure. Always follow the disposal instructions on all products to protect the environment.

Household Hazardous Waste

Household Hazardous Waste products can be dangerous if poured down the drain, all hazardous waste products should be taken to a hazardous waste disposal site, visit www.simcoe.ca for more information on where to bring Household Hazardous Waste.
