About On-Demand
Argo offers On-Demand service using smaller vehicles and dynamic routing.
The service allows residents to request a ride near their door for a standard transit fare and is fully accessible.
Rides can be requested through a mobile app, or by phone.
There are no guarantees that trips will be a direct ride, but ride times should be improved over the existing fixed routes. Customers may share the vehicle with others travelling in a similar direction, making stops along the way. This model ensures equitable service is available to all who need it. BWG Transit remains committed to providing accessible and affordable public transit for all residents.
BWG Transit fares will continue to apply for on-demand services. Operation will be 6:30 am to 7:30 pm, Monday through Friday and Saturday 7:30 am to 7:30 pm (no Sunday or holiday service).

The On-Demand transit system is a new, flexible service in Bradford West Gwillimbury, where residents can request rides from their doorstep to their destination through an easy-to-use app. This service utilizes a smart routing system to optimize routes based on real-time demand. It's a fully accessible, electric transit system developed in partnership with the Canadian company Argo.
When will the new system be available?
The On-Demand transit service launched on April 3, 2025, as a pilot project. The service will run until March 31, 2026, during which the full transition from fixed bus routes will take place.
How do I use the new On-Demand transit system?
Riders can book a ride using the Argo Transit app, the Argo website, or by calling a dispatcher. The service is available within Bradford’s urban settlement boundary, Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be no service on Sundays.
What are the benefits of the On-Demand system?

It also helps reduce traffic, saves taxpayers money, and is environmentally friendly, with fully electric buses. The service improves accessibility for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and underserved populations. |
How does the smart routing work?
The Argo Transit system uses a smart-routing algorithm that adjusts routes in real-time based on rider demand. This ensures more efficient and personalized service, with estimated pick-up and drop-off times provided via the app. The system also tracks bus locations in real time, so riders can see when the bus will arrive.
Are there any limitations to the service?
The service is available within Bradford’s urban settlement boundary.![]() |
Will the On-Demand system replace the existing fixed bus routes?
Yes, there will be a transition period at the beginning to assist with riders moving over to the on-demand service.
What kind of buses are being used?
The buses used in the pilot project are four fully accessible, electric vehicles called Argo X1. They are about the size of a modern SUV and can carry up to 18 passengers, including 10 seats and space for standing or wheelchair passengers. The buses are compact enough to fit in a standard parking space and have been inspected and certified for safety.
How will I pay for the ride?

Rider names and destinations are kept private from other passengers. Riders can also request to be dropped off early, and the routing system will update in real time to reflect this change.

During high-demand periods, the system will use smart routing to predict demand and adjust accordingly.
How is the service accessible for people with mobility challenges?
| The Argo buses are fully accessible and can accommodate people with mobility challenges, including those using wheelchairs. The system is designed to be inclusive and provide easy access for all residents. When requesting a trip via the app please indicate if you use a wheelchair/scooter or you are bringing your bicycle by using the filter option next to the number of Riders option.
