On the Move is a public health–led program that encourages students to walk, cycle, and wheel to school—building healthier, safer, and more active school communities. By promoting active travel like walking, biking, or scooting, the initiative helps kids stay active while also reducing traffic, improving air quality, and enhancing safety around schools.
To address growing concerns at drop-off and pick-up times, the Town of BWG, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, and local school boards have formed a working group to pilot town-wide changes that support safe, active travel across all school zones. BWG Enforcement staff also play a key role, providing visible support in school zones and at events like Spring into Spring, where officers reinforced safe travel habits and encouraged active commuting.
