WHEREAS: the Federated Women’s Institute of Ontario (FWIO) is a not for profit charitable organization with affiliations around the world , working with and for women in rural and small town Ontario to offer education, programming and community support; advocate for social, environmental and economic change and work toward the personal growth of all women for home and country; and
WHEREAS the FWIO envisions an Ontario where individuals come together to create safe, healthy communities and achieve enriched and balanced lifestyles; and
WHEREAS the FWIO values mutual respect and support, communication, healthy members and a healthy environment, safe communities with versatility and adaptability; and
WHEREAS FWIO members across Ontario are working to initiate programs to strengthen families and communities, interpret and record local history, share fun and friendship, hone leadership skills, prepare briefs and letters as part of local, national and global issues and advocacate for change and resolution toward a healthier society and world to live in and to share a voice with women around the world on these important issues; and
WHEREAS right here in our local community efforts are being made every day by members of FWIO to support student achievement, seniors, local charities and continuous effort to find and fill gaps toward a healthy and vibrant community.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim February 19, 2026, as Women’s Institute of Ontario Day in our community.
