In celebration of Emergency Preparedness Week, Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services (BWGFES) is thrilled to announce its upcoming Open House event, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Fire Station 1, located at 77 Melbourne Drive.
The event promises an array of activities and educational opportunities, including fire safety demonstrations, emergency preparedness booths, and a live extrication demonstration involving BWG Firefighters. Learn about how to keep you and your family safe from BWG Fire personnel and our partners including South Simcoe Police Service, Red Cross, BWG Aquatics, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, Bradford Women’s Institute, Vipond Sprinklers and Simcoe County Paramedics.

“BWG fire and Emergency Services is excited to invite our community to join us for a day that’s both educational and fun. Our Open House is a chance for community members to learn how to stay ready for anything, whether it’s a summer storm, a winter power outage, or anything in between.” Said Fire Chief Michael Rosario “As we’ve seen this past winter, emergencies can strike at any time and can often last longer than we expect. As a community, we need to be ready. This event is a great opportunity for our staff and partners to connect with residents, share important safety information, and continue building a strong community together.”
In addition to interactive demonstrations, guests can participate in games and activities and take photos with Sparky the Fire Dog. Attendees will also have the chance to win exciting prizes and enjoy free Cotton Candy from Magical events while supplies last. Special thanks to our sponsor, Firehouse Subs Bradford and Rieker Canada.
"The Spring into Safety Open House welcomes community members of every age to connect with our dedicated emergency services team, explore life-saving resources, and discover practical safety tips. It’s a celebration of preparedness, partnership, and the strength of a resilient community." – Mayor James Leduc
Although this is a free event, the community is encouraged to consider bringing a non-perishable item to help fill a cruiser for the Bradford Helping Hand Foodbank.
