International Wheelchair Day Proclamation

WHEREAS, International Wheelchair Day is observed annually on March 1 to celebrate the positive impact wheelchairs have on the lives of people with mobility disabilities, supporting independence, dignity, and full participation in community life; and

WHEREAS, wheelchairs are essential tools that enable access to education, employment, recreation, and civic engagement within the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury; and

WHEREAS, recognizing International Wheelchair Day helps raise awareness of the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and the ongoing work required to create barrier-free public spaces, services, and programs for all residents; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming community where people of all abilities are respected, valued, and supported;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Members of Council for the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury do hereby proclaim March 1 as International Wheelchair Day, and encourage residents, businesses, and community organizations to reflect on the importance of accessibility and to support efforts that promote inclusion for people of all abilities.
