The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury invites residents and visitors to celebrate the outdoors at its annual Trails Day and Mayor’s Hike for Health, taking place at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Held in recognition of International Trails Day, the event highlights the important role local trails play in supporting active living and connecting the community with nature. Activities will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and include the 23rd Annual Mayor’s Hike for Health, featuring a guided hike led by the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority. Participants will have the opportunity to explore Scanlon Creek while learning more about its unique natural features.
Trails Day is a free, family-friendly event offering something for everyone, including a complimentary barbecue lunch with hamburgers and hot dogs, live music, and children’s activities such as outdoor games and entertainment.
Scanlon Creek Conservation Area offers a variety of amenities, including multiple hiking trails, covered picnic pavilions, a playground, and scenic lookout points ideal for birding and photography. With five trails of varying difficulty and terrain—including a boardwalk through a marsh—visitors may spot ducks, herons, beavers, and other wildlife. The conservation area features forests, wetlands, and open meadows and is located just a 10‑minute drive from the centre of town.
“Trails Day is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the natural spaces that make Bradford West Gwillimbury such a special place to live,” said Mayor James Leduc. “Events like the Mayor’s Hike for Health encourage residents of all ages to stay active while appreciating the beauty of our local trails.”
Parking will be free for the event, though visitors are reminded that parking fees normally apply. Whether you’re an avid hiker or simply looking to enjoy time outdoors with family and friends, Trails Day at Scanlon Creek offers a welcoming experience for all.
The event takes place rain or shine, so attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather. For more information, visit www.townofbwg.com/TrailsDay
