The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury will host the annual Trails Day and the Mayor’s Hike for Health at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Trails Day coincides with International Trails Day, which celebrates the importance of hiking trails in promoting healthy lifestyles and outdoor recreation. This year’s event will take place from 11:00am-1:00pm, featuring the 22nd Annual Mayor’s Hike for Health where you will get to learn more about Scanlon Creek with a guided hike from staff at the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority. At this free event, you can also enjoy a barbeque lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs, live music, and kid-friendly activities including children’s entertainment and outdoor games.
This event is a great opportunity to explore Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, which offers diverse hiking trails, covered picnic pavilions, an off-leash dog park, a playground, and unique lookout points for birders and photographers.

There are five different trails that vary in difficulty and terrain, such as a boardwalk through the marsh, where you can see wildlife including ducks, herons and beavers. Scanlon Creek offers a wide variety of forests, wetlands, meadows, and wildlife, and it’s only a 10-minute drive from the centre of town.
Parking will be free for the event, however, please note there is normally a parking fee. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just want to enjoy some time outdoors, Trails Day at Scanlon Creek will have something for everyone!
“Join us for a day of fresh air, movement, and community at the Annual Trails Day and Mayor’s Hike for Health. Whether you're hitting the trails for the first time or you're a longtime outdoor enthusiast, this event is a perfect way to explore our local green spaces, stay active, and spend meaningful time with neighbours, friends, and family.”– Mayor James Leduc
