WHEREAS: The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury recognizes the invaluable contributions of our transit operators to the community's well-being and connectivity; and

WHEREAS: National Transit Driver Appreciation Day falls on March 18th, providing an opportunity for us to express our gratitude for the dedication, professionalism, and service of BWG's transit staff; and

WHEREAS: BWG's transit drivers, whether operating vehicles or working diligently behind the scenes, play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and accessibility of our transit system; and

WHEREAS: Throughout their shifts, BWG's transit drivers exhibit exceptional multitasking skills, including fare checking, offering assistance and directions, accommodating special stop requests, adhering to schedules, and navigating through challenging traffic and weather conditions — all while prioritizing the safety and comfort of their passengers; and

WHEREAS: The efforts of our transit drivers are complemented by the hard work and dedication of supporting staff who manage schedules, maintain the fleet, and oversee fare systems, contributing to the seamless operation of our transit services; and

WHEREAS: The Town has consistently received positive feedback and heartfelt stories highlighting the positive impact of our transit team on the community, from reuniting passengers with lost items to assisting newcomers in navigating local routes, thereby fostering connections, facilitating access to essential services, and enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim March 18 2025, as Transit Driver Appreciation Day in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
