Alectra Utilities Corporation is embarking on a significant asset renewal project aimed at upgrading the electrical infrastructure in key areas of our community. As part of their ongoing commitment to ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted power supply, Alectra is focusing on the preventative maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and replacement of essential electrical equipment.

The project will take place within the boundaries of Holland Street West, Simcoe Road, Line 6, and Melbourne Drive, as well as roadways near line 8 including Countryside Court, Parkside Court, Depeuter Crescent , Prince Drive, Roughley Street, Noble Drive, Breeze Drive, Northgate Drive, Flecther Street, Compton Crescent, Stoddart Crescent , Archer Avenue, Mills Court, Hudson Crescent, Fox Run Lane and Longview Drive. Specifically, the work will target underground ducts and high voltage cables, both of which are critical to the safe and efficient distribution of electricity throughout the region.
Work is set to begin in Spring 2025, with Alectra’s cable injection contractor, Southwire, spearheading the project. While the work will improve the long-term reliability of the electrical system, residents in the affected areas should be prepared for minor interruptions to their service at various stages of the construction. These temporary disruptions are necessary to ensure worker safety and will be communicated to customers in advance to minimize inconvenience.
In some cases, the refurbishment of underground distribution cables will require excavation to access cable splices. While this may lead to some temporary landscaping disturbance, Alectra Utilities is committed to restoring any affected areas to their original condition following the completion of the project.
Alectra assures the public that, in line with their core values of safety and environmental responsibility, all work will be conducted with the utmost attention to both public safety and environmental impact.
Should you have any questions or concerns about the project, Alectra's Customer Outreach Department is available to assist. Customers are encouraged to reach out by calling 1-833-253-2872, selecting Option 2, followed by Option 4, and leaving a message for a prompt response. For reference, please mention WO# 656051 BR2 when making inquiries.
Alectra Utilities appreciates the community’s cooperation during this important upgrade and looks forward to providing an even more reliable power supply to the region.
