Accessible Parking Month 2025
WHEREAS: accessible parking spaces are essential for ensuring that individuals with disabilities can access their community safely, independently, and with dignity; and
WHEREAS: the misuse of accessible parking spaces by those without valid permits creates barriers and challenges for residents who rely on these designated spaces for daily activities such as shopping, attending appointments, and participating in community life; and
WHEREAS: the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury’s Enforcement Division has launched its annual Accessible Parking Blitz with the theme “Respect the Space: No Permit? No Parking”—a campaign designed to raise awareness, encourage respectful parking habits, and promote inclusion and accessibility across our community; and
WHEREAS: this initiative reinforces that accessible parking spaces are not about convenience, but necessity, and that protecting these spaces demonstrates empathy, respect, and a shared commitment to accessibility for all residents; and
WHEREAS: the Town’s Accessibility Advisory Committee and Enforcement Division continue to work collaboratively to educate the public, increase awareness, and uphold enforcement efforts to ensure that designated spaces remain available for those who need them most.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim November 2025, as Accessible Parking Awareness Month in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
