WHEREAS: Approximately 10,000 children are living with cancer in Canada today. Each year about 1,500 cases are diagnosed. Because of significant advances in therapy, 82% of these children will survive 5 years or more. Childhood cancer remains responsible for more deaths from one year through adolescence than any other disease; and

National Peacekeepers' Day August 9, 2023

WHEREAS: We raise the United Nations flag on behalf of the past, present and future peacekeepers residing in Central Ontario; and

WHEREAS: On August 9, 1974, an aircraft was shot down during peacekeeping duties, ultimately killing all nine personnel on board. It was and still is the largest loss of Canadian Peacekeepers in a single day. Cpl B.K. Stringer and Warrant Officer C.B.
