Bradford Security of Water Supply Project

Project Description

The objective of the Bradford Security of Water Supply (SWS) projects is to unlock water supply capacity, and in doing so, allow Bradford to continue to grow.

The SWS projects will:

  • Reduce the system constraints,
  • Increase system robustness, and
  • Mitigate system risks.

The goal of these measures is to ensure Bradford has the water supply to service its population growth to 2031.

The expansion of the John Fennel Reservoir (JFR)

Project Description

The goal of this Project is to allow the Town to continue to grow to meet its 2031 and 2051 targets. The additional storage capacity was deemed necessary to meet the maximum day demand by 2031 and to provide a one-day reserve in the event of a supply disruption from InnServices.

The Replacement Well Investigation, Design, and Implementation in the Existing Town's Well Area

Project Description

Establish an offset replacement well at the Town’s Church 2 Well site. In 2019 a complete well inspection was conducted by International Well Services (IWS). The step test revealed that the well is still performing well. However, the camera inspection did reveal some corrosion of the casing. The intention is to maintain the existing well as a backup well thus providing firm capacity in the well supply. The new well will then become the primary supply for Church.

The Innisfil-Bradford 3rd Line Booster Pumping Station Upgrades Project

Project Description

The goal of this Project is to allow the Town to continue to grow to its 2031 target.  The Project will address one of the recommendations of the Bradford Water System Optimization and State of Good Repair (SOGR) study completed in April 2021. The study identified that upgrades to the 3rd Line Booster Pumping Station (BPS) are necessary to address system constraints, including pumping capacity and ensure that the Town has an adequate water supply to 2031.

The Bradford Inflow and Infiltration Study Project

Project Description

The Project includes a review and analysis of Bradford West Gwillimbury's (BWG) entire wastewater network. The goal of the project is to investigate and identify likely sources of inflow and infiltration within the Town's wastewater system. The ultimate goals, based on findings, will include determination of problematic areas within the Town and recommendations to mitigate these inflow and infiltration flows.

The project includes data collection and monitoring of wastewater flows within the sewer system and the creation/calibration of a wastewater model based on the data collected.

Further investigative works include fog testing of the Town’s sanitary sewers to determine specific points of inflow and or infiltration (groundwater or storm water entering sanitary sewers).

Fog Testing of Sanitary Sewer Works

The Town and its Consultant are currently conducting fog testing of sanitary sewers within BWG’s urban boundaries from now until June. We are completing fog testing to find potential points where storm water enters sanitary sewers, resulting in higher risks of basement flooding and increased wastewater treatment costs.
