    Apply for Affordable Housing Rentals in BWG

    The Simcoe County Housing Corporation has opened online applications for affordable housing rentals at the BWG affordable housing building.

    The building includes 50 mixed affordable residential units for families and seniors with one, two, and three-bedroom units.

    LINX Transit Expands in BWG
    The County of Simcoe’s LINX Transit service is growing in BWG with an exciting Route 5 expansion. There are now an additional 13 new bus stops along Holland Street making for smoother daily commutes and offering increased access to service for those travelling in the area.

    Go Transit Service Adjustments
    During the month of July, some train service on the Barrie GO line will be adjusted or replaced with shuttle buses as for important maintenance projects and key infrastructure updates. Please plan accordingly when travelling on the following dates:

    Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7

    There will be no GO train service on the Barrie line on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7 while we perform important construction along the corridor.

    • Transit: No Transit Service July 1

    Notice of Lane Closure: County Road 4

    There will be a lane closure on County Road 4 (Yonge Street) between Line 8 and Line 9 starting Wednesday, July 3 at 7 am, until Thursday, July 4 at 5 am, to facilitate roadwork in the area.

    A flagging operation will be in place to help direct both southbound and northbound traffic.

    BWG Celebrates the Official Grand Opening of 177 Church Street

    After two years of construction, the Town of BWG officially opened its doors at its 177 Church Street building during a grand opening ceremony on June 27.

    Southwest Arterial Road Construction Update

    To facilitate the paving of the final lift of asphalt on the Southwest Arterial Road, the roadway sections listed below will be closed from 7 am until 6 pm starting June 24 through June 28. Other parts of the project will undergo lane restrictions to facilitate the paving operations.

    Test-hole Investigation Works Notice

    WHEN: Work will begin Monday June 24, 2024 and scheduled for completion by July 5, 2024.

    WHERE/WHAT: Our consultant WSP and T2 Utility Engineers are planning to complete a SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) investigation, daylighting utilities by way of hydro-excavating test-holes on the roadway along the Holland Street East and West corridor between Professor Day.
