Mayor James Leduc

Mayor James Leduc is a seasoned leader with a deep-rooted commitment to Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG) and over sixteen years of experience on Council. Leduc was elected as Mayor of BWG in 2022, after serving two consecutive terms as Deputy Mayor (2014-2022), preceded by one term as Ward 6 Councillor (2010-2014), and one term as Ward 2 Councillor (2006-2010).

Born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, Leduc moved his family to BWG over twenty-five years ago because of its family-oriented, community-centred, and small-town charm.

Over the years, Leduc has dedicated much of his time to the community through volunteerism, spanning from coaching his children’s sports teams to volunteering with the local United Way chapter and the Bradford Helping Hand Food Bank. Leduc also served as past President of the Bradford Lions Club, a volunteer of the local Santa Claus Parade Committee fundraiser, and an executive member of the Bradford Chamber of Commerce for two consecutive terms.

Mayor Leduc's vision for BWG is focused on several key platform priorities, namely addressing traffic flow and speed control throughout the municipality, affordable housing, and planning for Bradford’s future and anticipated growth targets.

Leduc currently sits on the County of Simcoe Council and is the Business Section Chair with the County of Simcoe. His role on County Council is to support the vision of the County and address issues that are dealt with at a regional level, like affordable housing. Recognizing the pressing need for local affordable housing, the topic is a critical facet of Leduc's agenda, continually emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts across all levels of government to provide housing for the most vulnerable in our community.

Looking ahead, Mayor Leduc and his Council will concentrate on the development of a central town hall, a move aimed at better serving the residents of BWG, as well as community safety and traffic congestion mitigation.

James Leduc is a valuable ambassador for BWG residents and truly has the community's best interest at heart. He is enthusiastic about what the future holds and building an even better BWG alongside his Council and with the support of his community.
