South West Arterial Road (SWAR)
Description:
This project is for the reconstruction of Sideroad 10 from County Road 88 to Line 5, Line 5 from Sideroad 10 to Coffey Road and realignment of Line 6.
Upcoming Road Closure: Line 6 will be closed from Sideroad 10 to West Park Ave. from April 10 to June 16, 2023.
Project Status & Update:
The project is underway and consists of 3 phases.
The project is currently in the first phase and construction activities are ongoing. All emergency services, school buses, and garbage pick-up have been contacted and informed about the project and relevant detours.
Over the course of the next few months, the contractor will be working on:
- road crossing culverts,
- driveway culverts,
- regrading ditches
- building bioswales.
- Other misc works as required by the contract
Drivers should expect some minor delays as the contractor will need to close lanes in order to complete the works noted above. Any full road closures will be posted well in advance on this webpage as well as on the variable message signs located around the project.

Ensuring the safety of our residents is our priority - we regularly test the road compaction.
|
Import fill is on site and work for this portion of the road (between Ln 6 and 5) is complete. Silt fence is on site and inspected daily to ensure the protection of the surrounding environment.
|
Culvert crossings for this section are put in place in accordance to LSRCA requirements.
|
To ensure the public has access to services during construction (school buses, solid-waste pickup, and emergency services), our project team remains in close contact with our service providers. The access routes and signage are monitored daily.
