South West Arterial Road (SWAR)

This project is for the reconstruction of Sideroad 10 from County Road 88 to Line 5, Line 5 from Sideroad 10 to Coffey Road and realignment of Line 6.

project area map Project Status & Update:

The project is underway and consists of 3 phases.

Includes Sideroad 10 from Line 6 to north of Line 5, a roundabout south of Line 6, and Line 6 from approx 100 meters west of Sideroad 10 to east of Langford Blvd.
Includes Line 5 from Coffey Road to Sideroad 10 with a new tie-in to Line 5.
Includes Sideroad 10 from Line 6 to Holland Street.

The project is currently in the first phase and construction activities are ongoing. All emergency services, school buses, and garbage pick-up have been contacted and informed about the project and relevant detours.

Labour issues continue to affect the schedule for the current phase of the project. Sideroad 10 between Line 5 and Line 6 is now scheduled to be open by December 2.

The project team is working closely with the Contractor and suppliers to address the current supply chain challenges affecting many aspects of the construction industry. We are focused on driving the project forward as efficiently as possible while ensuring that all appropriate standards are complied with before reopening the road for public use. This web page will communicate important developments and changes as the project progresses.
