Tamil Heritage Month

WHEREAS: The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury recognizes the vibrant cultural legacy of the Tamil community; and

WHEREAS: January holds a special significance as it marks the start of Tamil Heritage Month, celebrating the remarkable contributions of Canada’s Tamil community to our social, political, cultural, and economic strength; and

WHEREAS: Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka was established on January 12, 1987, and became incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization on February 11, 1987. The program is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors, who oversees all phases of the program; and

WHEREAS: Violence continues to be the greatest gender inequality rights issue for women, girls and gender-diverse individuals; and

Talk to a Stranger Week 2024

WHEREAS: GenWell is a Canadian-led Global Human Connection movement which seeks to highlight the need for all Canadians to recognize the importance of human connection for their health, happiness, longevity, and the betterment of society for all; and

WHEREAS: The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is encouraged to reach out to strangers during a week-long campaign. Talk To a Stranger Week is a campaign intended to educate, empower, and catalyze Canadians about the many.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day

October 15, 2024

WHEREAS: October is recognized worldwide, across Canada, and within our province as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month; and

WHEREAS: During the month, we take time to honor and remember those who have lost a child during pregnancy or in infancy; and

WHEREAS: Losing a child in pregnancy or infancy is an unspeakable grief and many are left feeling alone and unsupported. It is our intention to raise awareness and to support those who.

Fire Prevention Week

October 6-12, 2024

WHEREAS: The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury’s Fire and Emergency Services is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living in and visiting our Town; and  

WHEREAS: Fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, and homes are where people are at greatest risk from fire; and 

WHEREAS: Smoke alarms detect smoke well before you can, alerting you to danger in the event of fire in which you may have just seconds to escape..
