    WHEREAS: The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury proudly recognizes August 14th as Pakistan
    Independence Day, commemorating the establishment of Pakistan as an independent nation in 1947; and 

    WHEREAS: The Pakistani-Canadian community plays an important role in enriching the cultural and social fabric of our town. Their contributions in business, education, public service, and community development continue to strengthen Bradford as an inclusive and vibrant.

    WHEREAS: We raise the United Nations flag on behalf of the past, present and future peacekeepers residing in Central Ontario; and

    WHEREAS: On August 9, 1974, an aircraft was shot down during peacekeeping duties, ultimately killing all nine personnel on board. It was and still is the largest loss of Canadian Peacekeepers in a single day.

    WHEREAS: This marks the fourteenth annual Fierté Simcoe Pride, and its purpose is to create a safe and inclusive Simcoe County that supports gender and sexual diversity through services, activities and events; and
