Open Air Fire and Fireworks Ban in Effect for BWG

As of July 30, 2025, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG) has implemented a complete ban on open air burning and the use of fireworks due to elevated fire risk conditions.

This ban applies even if you currently hold a burn permit and includes the following restrictions:

  • No open-air burning
  • No use of fireworks
  • No cooking fires
  • No use of coal, charcoal, wood, or woodchip-fueled barbecue devices

Permitted Use:
Cooking appliances with a mechanical shutoff, such as propane or natural gas BBQs, are still allowed. These must be used only on hard surfaces, such as decks or non-flammable areas, and must be placed a safe distance from any combustible materials.

The ban will remain in place until further notice and will be lifted only when it is safe to do so.
