Extreme Heat Expected This Week – Visit a BWG Cooling Centre
Environment Canada is forecasting hot and humid conditions this week, with daytime temperatures expected to reach 30 to 34°C and humidex values between 38 and 42°C.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions to protect themselves and others from the effects of extreme heat. Staying hydrated, limiting time outdoors during peak heat, and checking in on older adults, young children, and other vulnerable individuals are important ways to stay safe.
To help residents beat the heat, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury has two Cooling Centres available during regular operating hours:
- BWG Public Library – 425 Holland Street West
- BWG Leisure Centre – 471 West Park Avenue
Cooling Centres provide a safe, air-conditioned space where residents can cool down during periods of extreme heat.
For more information about BWG Cooling Centres, visit www.townofbwg.com/warmingandcoolingcentres.
Residents are also encouraged to follow the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit for the latest heat warnings and tips on staying safe during extreme temperatures.
Stay informed, stay hydrated, and stay cool.
