PROCLAMATION
Police Week
May 15-21 2022
WHEREAS:
National Police Week
was first observed in 1970 as a way for police to connect with their community
and increase awareness about the services they provide; and
WHEREAS:
Police services
across Ontario celebrate Police Week annually, to honour and thank the work
that front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all
members of Ontario police services do to keep Ontarians safe and healthy; and
WHEREAS:
The 2022 campaign
theme is “Your Police Services: Helping Build Safer Communities” – recognizing the
important role that police services play in building and maintaining healthy
and safe communities across our province; and
WHEREAS:
The South Simcoe
Police Service (SSPS) is committed to the safety and well-being of the Towns of
Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil – comprised of nearly 72,000 residents;
and
WHEREAS:
The SSPS’s vision is to
make a difference in the lives of those in our community and work together to
ensure effective and efficient community safety and well-being – through
teamwork, integrity, respect, inclusiveness, courage, professionalism,
accountability, compassion; and
WHEREAS:
The role and
objectives of the SSPS in our community include deterring criminal activity,
improving road safety, ensuring critical incident/major event & emergency
preparedness, protecting vulnerable members of the community, developing
partnerships that focus on prevention, and increasing public education.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That His Worship
Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim May 15 to 21, 2022, as POLICE
WEEK in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
POLICE WEEK OPEN HOUSE
The South Simcoe Police Service is hosting their annual Police Week Open House on Saturday, May 14,
from 12:30 – 2:00 pm, at South Division – 81 Melbourne Drive, Bradford West Gwillimbury.
