With tremendous progress made over the last several months of construction, the former Bradford Public School at 177 Church Street is on schedule for an official opening in October 2023.
After minor setbacks and inactivity late last year due to scope changes and material delivery delays, work is well underway at BWG’s new Community Hub project site. With the structural components completed, the project team will spend the summer months completing exterior finishes and interior fitups (mechanical and electrical), followed by interior finishes. Once completed, the 30,000 sq. ft. facility will provide a central location for social service agencies and Town programs, featuring a reception area, meeting rooms, and a large multi-purpose room with kitchen.
“I a very excited to see this community-centred facility nearing completion. The revitalization of 177 Church Street has been a vision of Council since we purchased the property back in 2018, and I look forward to the day we can officially welcome our new tenants and community members to the facility. Thank you to our residents, especially those neighbouring the project site, for your patience and understanding as we work through this final phase of construction. I would also like to thank the federal government for their support on this project, through their Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program grant of $5.3M” – Mayor James Leduc
During the June 20th Council Meeting, Council authorized leases for the first set of tenants at the new building, which include the Helping Hand Food Bank, CrossTrainers Canada, and WOW Living.
“We are delighted to be moving to 177 Church Street. This larger, modern facility will provide our volunteers and clients with a much needed improved experience and support our efforts to serve the fast-growing BWG community”. – Brian Febel, Chair of the Helping Hand Food Bank
Updates will be shared with the community as the opening date approaches.
