On March 3, 2026, Council directed staff to develop a comprehensive clean air policy framework, including an Idling Control By-Law. This initiative builds on the Green Initiatives Advisory Committee work plan and the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Master Plan. A draft by-law will go before the Green Initiatives Advisory Committee in June 2026 and Council in August 2026.
Idling Control By-law Survey
We are seeking your feedback on the by-law and its potential exemptions (like safety, accessibility, agriculture, etc.) The by-law would generally limit idling to 3 minutes within a 60-minute period.
The survey closes at 5pm on Tuesday, June 2.
