Bradford West Gwillimbury to Rename Municipal Park ​in Honour of Constable Devon Northrup ​

Bradford West Gwillimbury (February 22, 2023) – During the February 21 Committee of the Whole meeting, Council passed a Motion to rename Middletown Park (140 Langford Boulevard) to "Constable Devon Northrup Memorial Park" in honour of Constable Devon Northrup. ​

Plans are underway for an official renaming ceremony/unveiling in the spring. Ceremony details will be shared with the public once arrangements are made.

“We are looking forward to creating a permanent tribute to celebrate Constable Northrup's life and commemorate his dedication to public service. We will continue working closely with the Northrup family and look forward to the official unveiling in the spring. South Simcoe Police Officers, Constable Devon Northrup and Constable Morgan Russell, lost their lives in the line of duty on the evening of October 11, 2022, while responding to a disturbance in Innisfil. 

Earlier this month, the Town of Innisfil renamed their South Innisfil Community Centre to Morgan Russell Memorial Arena & Community Centre to create a permanent tribute in memory of Constable Morgan Russell. ​
