Welcoming remarks, speeches, and a ribbon-cutting will commence at 2:30 pm, followed by guided tours and an open house from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Located at 77 Melbourne Drive, Fire Station 1 was ready for occupancy in October 2021, after a 15-month new build project. Although the fire crew and administrative staff moved in once the building was completed, Station 1 remained closed to the public due to the COVID-19 situation at the time.

“Bradford Fire and Emergency Services is proud to finally open our doors to the community. With our primary goal being to serve and protect our community and its visitors, we truly believe this building will help us do our life work of public safety and fire protection more efficiently. We are proud of our new facility and sincerely thank Council, the community, and all those who helped shape the Fire Hall into what it is today. We are certain this new facility will meet BWG's expected needs and growth demands in years to come and we welcome you to come and celebrate our official opening with us."

-       BWG Fire Chief, Brent Thomas

A new Firehall was required to serve the growing Town of BWG community, as well as our full-time and volunteer fire service. The new 19,000 sq ft facility was designed with diversity and inclusion in mind as well as the future growth needs of local fire service. In addition to being a fully accessible (AODA compliant) building and home to the primary Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), the new building features:

  • Boardrooms and a training room;
  • A community room (available to all community members);
  • Dorms, a gym and dayroom, and a kitchen/dining area for firefighters; and
  • Four oversized drive-through bays to house six apparatus leaving one bay available for training and future growth.

The original, 9,000 sq ft Firehall (located at 75 Melbourne Drive) was built in 1989. This building received a minor renovation after Fire and Emergency Services moved out and now houses The Town of BWG's Urban Transportation/Public Works operation.
