​Heritage Property Tax Rebate Program

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury values its cultural heritage and wants to protect significant heritage properties. Owners of heritage homes often express concerns that heritage designation could result in higher than normal costs to maintain and restore their home.

To assist private property owners with ongoing maintenance, conservation and restoration of their homes, the Town offers a property tax rebate for eligible heritage properties. This program aims to promote conservation of our heritage resources for the benefit of the entire community.

Property Tax Rebate Amount

Eligible property owners may receive an annual property tax reduction of up to 40% (including the municipal, county and provincial/school board components).​


The Heritage Property Tax Rebate Program provides owners of properties designated under the Ontario Heritage Act with the opportunity to apply for a tax rebate, provided all eligibility requirements are met. Full eligibility requirements are identified in the brochure in the Documents list at right.

New Applications

In order to enrol in the Town's Heritage Tax Rebate Program, please complete an Application for Entrance/Renewal in the Heritage Property Tax Rebate Program, available in the Documents list at right. Office of Community Planning Staff will review the application to ensure the property meets all the requirements of eligibility. Further, staff will answer questions in regards to the application process before proceeding with the execution of a heritage conservation easement agreement.

Please note: In-person visits are available by appointment only at this time due to COVID-19 measu​res in Town of BWG offices.

Application Fee: $250 

Application Deadline: A deemed complete application must be received December 31st of the calendar year in which the rebate is being sought (i.e., Deadline for 2020 is December 31st, 2020).

Annual Renewal

Property owners enrolled in the program must provide renewal forms annually.  This provides the opportunity for enrolled property owners to demonstrate that the property has been maintained and that the attributes have been maintained to meet a minimum level of care as identified in the Designation By-law and Heritage Conservation Agreement.

Renewal Application Fee: $50

Renewals Application Deadline: are due by December 31st of the same calendar year.
