Transportation Master Plan

Description:

The Transportation Master Plan (TMP) is an element of the Town’s planning and guides BWG’s transportation investments and activities.  We will develop the plan using a framework that incorporates the Town’s vision, feedback from the community, and analysis of the challenges and opportunities in BWG.

Project Status & Update:

The TMP is on hold due to COVID.  A significant portion of a TMP is the forecast of traffic volumes based on current statistics.  COVID has had a considerable impact on traffic volumes.  This fact will negatively impact any analysis using present traffic volumes.

Contract Services:

  • WSP retained as the Consultant
Background:

One of the objectives for the 2019 – 2022 Council term is congestion reduction.  This TMP will serve as an evidence-based tool to guide the congestion reduction initiatives within and around the Town’s urban boundaries.

Notice of Study Commencement and Public Information Center Meeting #1:

Please take notice that the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is initiating its Transportation Master Plan (TMP) study to inform and guide policies and strategies for the Town's transportation network over the next 20 years and beyond.

What is a Transportation Master Plan?

A TMP looks to the future of our community in terms of population, business growth, residential development, commuter needs and other land-use plans to determine what the transportation needs of our community will be, and how that can be integrated with our existing transportation network. Using environmental assessment planning, it lays out a guide for sustainable, efficient and safe movement of goods and people within and around BWG.

The TMP will be completed in accordance with the Master Plan process identified by the Municipal Engineers Association, adhering to the requirements of Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.

How can you get involved?

As the study progresses, the Town will engage with residents, stakeholders and businesses to shape the overall master plan and contribute towards the recommendations.

You are invited to attend an online public information session:

Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 5:30-6:30 pm or 7-8 pm
