PROCLAMATION
Epilepsy Awareness Month and Purple Day
March 26, 2022
WHEREAS:
On June 28, 2012 the Purple Day Act received a Royal Assent in Canada; and
WHEREAS:
Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder that is not well understood and affects approximately 1 in every 100 persons in Simcoe County; and
WHEREAS:
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder that affects each person differently, with the effects ranging from mild and relatively minor to extremely serious (which includes death); and
WHEREAS:
Purple Day is celebrated annually on March 26 to increase understanding, reduce stigma and provide support and advocacy in relation to epilepsy awareness.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim March as EPILEPSY AWARENESS MONTH and March 26, 2022 as PURPLE DAY in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
