PROCLAMATION:
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day
October 15, 2021
WHEREAS:
October 15th has been declared by the Province of Ontario as Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness day as a result of the passage of Bill 141: Pregnancy and Infant Loss, Research and Awareness Act; and
WHEREAS:
Over 37,000 Ontario families experience pregnancy and infant loss every year; and
WHEREAS:
There is a need to develop greater awareness and understanding about the causes of pregnancy and infant loss, so we can improve the healthcare provided for pregnant mothers and their babies; and
WHEREAS:
There is a need to provide more compassionate care and support for grieving parents, siblings, grandparents and other family members whose lives are irreversibly altered due to the heartbreaking loss of a baby; and
WHEREAS:
With greater awareness we can improve the medical care for mothers in our local hospitals, support for parents, and also expand research into the causes of pregnancy and infant loss; and
WHEREAS:
the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury wishes to recognize the profound grief experienced by families who lose a baby.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim October 15, 2021 as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
