Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day
October 15, 2021
October 15th has been declared by the Province of Ontario as Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness day as a result of the passage of Bill 141: Pregnancy and Infant Loss, Research and Awareness Act; and
Over 37,000 Ontario families experience pregnancy and infant loss every year; and
There is a need to develop greater awareness and understanding about the causes of pregnancy and infant loss, so we can improve the healthcare provided for pregnant mothers and their babies; and
There is a need to provide more compassionate care and support for grieving parents, siblings, grandparents and other family members whose lives are irreversibly altered due to the heartbreaking loss of a baby; and
With greater awareness we can improve the medical care for mothers in our local hospitals, support for parents, and also expand research into the causes of pregnancy and infant loss; and
the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury wishes to recognize the profound grief experienced by families who lose a baby.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim October 15, 2021 as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
