PROCLAMATION: National Forest Week
September 19-25, 2021
WHEREAS:
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury has an abundant tree cover and vibrant greenspaces; and
WHEREAS:
Our forested greenspaces offer valuable recreational opportunities and they act as centers for physical, mental, social and community well-being; and
WHEREAS:
Our urban forest contributes essential ecological services for the community such as pollution reduction, stormwater retention, cooling and wildlife habitat; and
WHEREAS:
It serves as a vital tool of resilience and sustainability in the face of climate change; and
WHEREAS:
National Forest Week is an annual one-week campaign, which recognizes the critical contribution of forests to Canada and its people. This year, National Forest Week will be celebrated across the country by individuals and organizations with the theme of “Our Forests - Continually Giving” and will encourage Canadians to reflect on the role of forests and trees within their everyday lives.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim September 19-25, 2021 as National Forest Week in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
