PROCLAMATION

Epilepsy Awareness Month / Purple Day​

March / March 26, 2023

WHEREAS:

According to Epilepsy Canada, 1 in 100 Canadians are affected by epilepsy; and

WHEREAS: 

Epilepsy is a physical condition characterized by sudden, brief changes in how the brain works; and.

WHEREAS: 

It is a symptom of a neurological disease - a disease that affects the brain and shows itself in the form of seizures; and

WHEREAS: 

Epilepsy Awareness Month is a global effort dedicated to promoting epilepsy awareness in countries around the world; and

WHEREAS: 

Purple Day is celebrated on March 26th annually to increase understanding, reduce stigma and improve the quality of life for people with Epilepsy throughout the country and globally.​

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim March 2023 as EPILEPSY AWARENESS MONTH​ and March 26, 2023, as PURPLE DAY in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The flag raising will take place on Thursday, March 23 at 12:00 pm (outside)
at the Court House Courtyard - 57 Holland St. E.
